There is something timeless about a wedding at Dunedin Country House. From the moment you pull up the drive in Patrington, you get that perfect mix of Victorian elegance and a relaxed, 'home-from-home' atmosphere. It’s the ideal backdrop for a documentary photographer because the space allows guests to truly relax—which is exactly where the best candid moments happen.

One of my favourite things about Dunedin is the light in the suites. For Elysia & Jake's wedding, the morning was all about those quiet, nervous-but-excited gestures. No awkward posing here—just the real story of the morning unfolding naturally. Having enough space to comfortably get ready for the day ahead but also share those special moments with family and friends is perfect.

After the ceremony, we took a quick stroll through the Dunedin grounds. I’m not a fan of dragging couples away for hours of posing; instead, we spent 15 minutes catching the best light by the gardens and the Edwardian architecture. It’s about giving you space to breathe while we capture those 'just married' portraits that you can cherish.

A highlight of Elysia & Jake's day was the reaction to the same-day prints. Being able to hand over physical copies of their portraits before the first dance even starts is something I love providing. It’s that tangible memory that couples (and their parents!) always cherish.
